'The park and accommodation were perfect, all very welcoming and the position was perfect in the middle of nature and the location very good for visiting the sights around Devon. The pool was a real delight to have after returning from a good day out to relax before dinner and a drink either in the bar and restaurant or on the decking back at the lodge.

'We thoroughly enjoyed our 4 night break at Finlake. Our lodge was beautiful and the sauna, hot tub and leather corner sofa added a touch of luxury. The food was of good quality and reasonably priced and the pool and gym were clean. I would recommend a visit to Buckfast Abbey and Go Ape at Haldon Country Park while you are there. For a break away without the kids I would recommend Finlake, and I would definitely go again!!!'

'Finlake is set in the most beautiful surroundings, and the facilities are superb. The accommodation is first class, and was very clean with every possible thing you would need for a week away. The staff at the park were very friendly, helpful and knowledgable and always happy to help. The lesuire facilities were exceptional with golf, swimming, tennis and a gym, you could easily just spend all your time at the park without venturing off to see any of the surrounding countryside. I would highly recommend anyone to come and spend some time at Finlake for a relaxing and most enjoyable holiday. '

The hot tub was the main great feature, and was very enjoyable.
The Finlake site is great for families and couples, the wooden lodges are absolutely beautiful, they have all you need, they are very homely and cosey.
All staff were very helpful and polite, they definitely made us feel welcome.
The site its self was very good, although there wasn't a shop on site for everyday goods which would have been very useful, but the shops aren't far away if you have a vehicle.

The location of our lodge was perfect, situated in the trees and very quiet, despite being less than a couple of minutes walk from the centre where the bar, restaurant and leisure facilities were situated. There was enough to keep us and two teenage boys occupied in and around the village, and not one mention of the "bored" word once. We would definitely return in the future!'

The park itself is like a nature reserve, we have seen squirrels, badgers, deer, and the most beautiful assortment of wild birds which if you put food out for them, will visit you every morning. You can fish on the lake, or walk through the forest trails there is always something to do.. '

'From the moment we arrived at Finlake we were very impressed. The park is in an excellent location close to road links and attractions, yet is quiet and secluded. Our lodge was a two storey chalet, spotlessly clean and with all amenities. 'I would highly recommend Finlake. There was so much to do for ourselves and our 2 children aged 5 and 7, both in and around the park, that one week didn't feel like long enough and we wished we could stay longer. You could bring your own equipment and use the tennis courts for free, or hire raquets etc from the park at a small cost. Pitch and putt again, just cost the hire of the equipment (£3.50), the two pools were free as was all the evening entertainment. There was horse riding a short walk away, again at a very reasonable price. We ate at the park twice and the food was very good - especially the chinese buffet! The cycle routes nearby in Haddon Forest were excellent for all age groups, then of course there was always the beaches - if you had time to fit them in! The lodge was spacious and comfortable and all in all it was one of the best family holidays we've had!'

'You could not get a better location for a holiday. A few minutes drive had you either dipping your toes in the sea at Torquay or walking the beautiful moors. The park had everything to make your stay relaxing and stress free. Kids were kept entertained in one of the 2 pools or the tennis courts, and the golf course was used every morning by Dad and the boys giving Mum a well earned rest. The restaurant had something for everyone, with the theme night a big hit. I cannot recommend this place enough!'

Don't let our British weather put you off the idea of holidaying in Devon, we encountered many days of rain during our week yet we still managed to have a fun packed holiday. A big plus was the hot tub, we used it every day come rain or shine. The accommodation was excellent, packed with lots of little things that you wouldn't normally find in a holiday let, like books, board games, DVDs and a flat screen TV. The quality of food in the retreat bar/restaurant was fantastic and good value for money. A recommended day out is "Go Ape" just up the road at Haldon Forest Park, it is not for the faint hearted but was tremendous fun and well worth the money. All in all a holiday we would definitely repeat and suggest others try too.'

'We have two young children and could not have wished for a better place for a UK holiday. Our lodge was perfect, well equipped and both the swimming pools and childrens play area were well maintained and provided hours of good, safe fun! There are lots of things to do within driving distance, the village of Chudleigh is nearby and very friendly. Our 2 little girls made lots of friends and were sad to leave - thanks for a lovely time and see you next year!'

'We stayed in a Woodland Premier 6 Lodge and had a fantastic break. The weather wasn't the best, but as the lodge was double glazed and heated throughout it wasn't a a problem. The lodge was very tastefully decorated and spotlessly clean. The kitchen had a fridge/freezer, washing machine/dryer and dishwasher which were all very welcome. The view from the lodge was stunning and it was a very peaceful and relaxing break. We are definitely going to return to this park at some point.'

'A brilliant park, ideal for families and couples alike. There is a large range of accommodation to suit all tastes and prices. The lodges are very spaced apart so you have a lot of privacy, and the setting in the woods was ideal and there were lots of footpaths, great for cycles and pushchairs. There was a nice bar and restaurant, ideal for refreshments and good value meals, and the fact that you can take children in makes it ideal for families. The bar area had ample of space and a very well stocked bar, (the hot chocolate they served was amazing), and the staff there were very friendly. There were lots of places to visit, although there was plenty to do on site. A weekend was not long enough and I would definitely return, I always travel with Hoseasons to their lodges and this park was brilliant!'

There's a good balance of being able to relax on park with the benefit of a selection of good attractions and coastal resorts nearby. River Dart Adventure Park is recommendable and mountain biking through Haldon Forrest. The best sandy beaches can be found at Bigbury on Sea and Goodrington Sands. The 'Retreat' restaurant on site serves an excellent menu with welcoming staff. A truly wonderful holiday which won't be our last!! '
